Day 3- San Antonio

Day 3: San Antonio and the Alamo

HEY HOWDY HO from your favorite Bashful's!
We woke up bright and early at 5 o'clock in the air conditioning which was AMAZING because we were ON TIME!!!!! Every single one of us were up, packed, and at the bus before we were told - which made the staff VERY HAPPY!

See? We were outside the bus by 5AM!

Today we spent a lot of time in the car driving. We encountered a lot of rain...so enjoy our SLEEP CAM!!!!!!!!!!

Blythe and Violet bonding time!!

Zoey back at it again!!!

Max living up to his group name "Sleepy"

We had a gourmet charcuterie prepared by the Happy's - take a look!

The stop we all came on TWB for - BUC-EE'S (just kidding it was just the highlight of today), was finally here! This was the Grand Canyon of Texas and we loved every minute of that place. We bought, lots and lots of snacks, explored all of the different and unique merchandise (did you know they sell house decor?). There were a few people who bought matching BUC-EE'S ONESIES (see parents, we are spending our money wisely.)

#slumped

We ended the night playing lots of volleyball, chatting, breading hair, making bracelets, and growing even closer! We bedded down around 1130 after our nightly meeting with the staff. We slept SO GOOD!

After a short bus ride from the Wally World we rode back to the next place we were shacking up for the night - Schreiner University. We got to luckily take showers tonight even though they were less than 4 minutes (we will take anything we can get).

Once everyone was finished with the showers we had our nightly meeting and talked about the Grand Canyon a little bit. After our meeting and research we ended up just sitting around, bonding, playing volleyball and enjoying each others company.

We are getting some rest tonight - off to bed a little early for us! Bashful's OVER AND OUT! We are off to our next duty - DISHWASHING!

Day 2- New Orleans

Day 2: New Orleans

Howdy Howdy AMERICA! We woke up bright and early this morning at 6:00am. We were up before out wake up call (but it was a tough move for it being day one), and were all ready to go by 6:30am. We loved our cabins and felt like REAL CAMPERS! It was hot and sticky while going to sleep, but COLD when we woke up!

We all packed up our things, rolled up our hammocks and sleeping bags, and headed on. We took an early drive through the campus of Auburn University and had our first research presentation of the trip! We learned a lot of cool, fun and also funny jokes about The state of Georgia, LaGrange College, Auburn University, and the State of Alabama.

After our AMAZING presentations by our wonderful friends, we loaded the bus and vans and headed to our new favorite store WALMART! We ate donuts and bananas for breakfast - thank you Happys! We have been learning a lot about budget for the cooks and we have been doing really well (or so we've been told.)

We found some Auburn gear at the WALLY WORLD!

Lots of bonding occurred on the road today, people connected more as they began to become more comfortable with everyone and being around this many people. We shared countless stories and learned about one another all day. We can't wait to see how close everyone gets by the end of the trip!

Our next stop was in Mississippi (spell that two times fast - for real, some of us tried) at another rest stop before continuing on our way to New Orleans!

MISSISSIPPI!!!!!!!!

We even saw Elvis Presley! Can you believe it?

Kat and Ella enjoying lovely gourmet CHICKEN CEASAR WRAPS!

Finally after what felt like longer than the original rendition of American Pie, we arrived into the HUMID New Orleans, Louisiana. Luckily
for us it was cloudy so it wasn't as hot. The culture was immensely different to that of the smaller towns in North and South Carolina that we hail from. A few people were fortunate enough to stop at Café du Monde and eat some delicious beignets. We are going to test the difference in those with the ones at Disneyland - for educational purposes only of course! Others spent time in the local shops and bought shirts, aprons, hats, and stickers. New Orleans was quite the experience!

Calee introducing us to LOUISIANA!

Max teaching us all about Jackson Square

Kate giving her research on the St Louis Cathedral

Delaney telling us all about Cafe Dumonde!

Emma Plonk introducing us to the Mississippi River!

Davis telling us about Bourbon Street!

The staff tricked us into taking their photo!!

After exploring, of course we went to the WALLY WORLD! We had to load uppppp!

Clayton getting in his calories by a whole jug of chocolate milk!

The boys prepping for tonights competition! Driggs - what are you wearing?

The cooks prepared us a lovely spaghetti dinner with a salad!

We spent the night doing our dixie land delight competition (We will share those videos when we are home) and the GRUMPYS brought home the win!!!!!!!!

We love you guys! Over and out, Bashful's!

Day 1- Sendoff and F.D.R. State Park

Day 1: LaGrange, GA

Hello everyone! Bashful's here, but we are definitely not that. Let us introduce ourselves. We are:  Betsy Taylor, Denver Lamb, Driggs Mitchell, Cooper Payne, Grace Perry, Mattie Queen, Claire Bankston, Logan Haskins, Taylor Lankford, Meg Larson, Kaela Smith, Ava Pelter, and Noah Powers led by your amazing and not so Bashful of a counselor - Ashley Guffey!!!
We began our day by our big send off at Mallard Creek (bye Mom and Dad!). Some of us loaded onto the vans - good ole MISS AMERICA and CAROLINA GIRL, and the others onto our bus. We played many games together like Uno and Go Fish while also having a few music jam sessions. For lunch we had turkey sandwhiches. It was our very first traveling meal and some people had some "cheese surprises" when they found the plastic still there... yikes!

We made it to our first state - South Cackalacky!
After our orientation to all things TWB, we quickly started speed dating (ooooooh yessssss) and afterwards were able to play many different card games, listen to music, and some even took a nap. We stopped at our first Flying J and the South Carolina State rest stop.

Fueling up! Site Managers hard at work.

We made it to the campsite, TIME TO COOK!

Meeting new friends while waiting for dinner!!

Hanging out watching outdoor games!

Manny serves the Spikeball in a fierce competition!

Our "Happy" team cooked up some delicious burgers for dinner!

They encountered some obstacles with a broken grill, but together found a way to make it work!

Kira and Blythe making their dinner plates!

The relay games have begun! First off - dizzy bat!

Arm wave relay games next!

And the winner of tonight's relay races - that's right, the one and only BASHFULS!!!!!!!!

Time for our first sing-a-long! Everyone was sounding AMAZING.

When we got to the campsite we prepped and started cooking. Many people played Spike Ball. The Happy group prepared hamburgers and it was delicious. We also had our very first SING-A-LONG! We sang Wagon Wheel, Party in the USA and This Land is Our Land (to name a few) and it sounded GLORIOUS. After our sing-a-long we started to bunk down. Some of us slept in cabins and others slept under the stars on the grass.

Bashful's OUT! See you tomorrow in New Orleans!
