Day 5- Painted Desert and Petrified Forrest

Day 5: Painted Desert and Petrified Forest

Dopey's here!!!! Today's adventures consisted of a beautiful drive to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. We woke up bright and early in New Mexico so we could make it to our destination.

A dark photo - but wanting to show you all how we started our morning. We slept in tents last night (so cool), but it stormed! We woke up a little bit earlier than planned to get out of the second storm that was coming. All of our amazing boy scouts worked together to get our 11 tents packed up tightly. We were able to load the bus rather quickly and get on the road. We are SO EXCITED for today - our final destination of the day will be the GRAND CANYON.

Sleepy time for Jack after leaving the campsite!

Ooooooo we loveee cinnamon rolls!

Looks like we have a little photobomber in this photo!

We are so thankful for our site managers who pump the gas in the vans each time we need it.

Amelia and Mitchell fueling up the vans!

We were able to meet one of Maddi's friends at the Flying J in Albequerque! Hi Irina!

Our lovely cooks served us CREPES for breakfast and they were soooooooo gooooood!

Now, on the way to ARIZONA!!!!!

Little jam sesh in Carolina Girl before crossing the state line!
Windows down and music up!

We made it! We were able to get semi trucks to honk for us!

Daniel and Renna posing as we enter the Petrified Forest.

Silly poses as we took in the beautiful views.

We all made it to the Petrified Forest!

Logan presenting his research on the Petrified Forest!

Mitchell giving us alllllll the info on the Painted Desert!

OFF TO WALLY WORLD!

We have stopped at a Wally World everyday, but this one in Arizona was a good one!

Bestie's getting matching shirts!

The wonderful cooks, the Grumpy's, secured the food for the next day at the Grand Canyon!

And now the moment we've been waiting for..... THE GRAND CANYON!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the view we walked out to...just watch our reactions. There are no words to describe what we saw.

We were so excited to be off the bus, but also taken aback by the amazing view. Speechless isn't even the word.

LIVE REACTION: Starstuck

Mackenzi and Megan shed tears at the sight.

We were all so overjoyed

Your very own bloggers (at the moment) were amazed.

We all posed for a bunch of pictures to savor this view forever.

You'll see all of these on Instagram posts when we get back.

Dalaney and Charley!

All of our new best friends.

Even Max was amazed! Everyone had their cameras out taking tons of pictures.

More new friends.

After taking in the view, we made it to the campsite for the next 2 nights. This was our first time sleeping under the stars on this trip!

Obviously TWB trip 2 rocks! (No pun intended.)

Once we got here, we all began to set up for the night. We made sure to put our tarps down so we wouldn't get dirty.

Now it's time to go watch the sunset... we can't WAIT!

After a little less then a mile walk, we made it to the point where we were going to watch the sunset. There were so many people up there taking in the beautiful view. A Grand Canyon sunrise/sunset truly tops all of the rest.

Thanks to Ava, we were able to take pictures with TWB glasses! The pictures we captured do not even compare to the sunset we saw in person!

Kory was sporting his family Thanksgiving shirt. He even said that it was his job to design them this year.

We ended the day taking in the sunset. Everyone went back to the campsite and prepared for bed quickly so we were able to go to sleep at a decent time. Tomorrow we are waking up bright and early, at 4AM, to go HIKE!

Stay tuned for many more pictures of the Grand Canyon tomorrow! The Dopey's are signing off once again!
